Congrats to the newly appointed members of DNRC’s Conservation Districts Advisory Council!

The former Resource Conservation Advisory Council (RCAC) was reauthorized July 1 and has been revamped with a more focused focused purpose and renamed the Conservation Districts Advisory Council (CDAC), which provides input to the Conservation District Bureau (CDB) within the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC).

Congratulations to the CDAC appointees who will serve on the council for the next 2 years.

North West Montana: Kathleen Johnson, Fortine, Lincoln CD

North Central Montana: Greg Jergeson, Chinook, Blaine CD 

South Central Montana: Gayla Wortman, Cascade, Cascade CD and  Steve Tyrell, Lavina, Lower Musselshell CD 

Eastern Montana: Judi Knapp, Hysham, Treasure CD and Richard Iversen, Culbertson, Richland CD

Western Montana: Robert Schroeder, Florence, Missoula CD


Council’s Revised Purpose for 2022-2024:

The Council’s new role is to be a conduit of information exchange from districts to the Bureau.  

  1. Advise and assist the Conservation Districts Bureau on district operations and conservation-related issues including impending conservation matters.
  2. Facilitate communication between the Conservation Districts Bureau and districts.
  3. Advocate about the importance of the work and value of the districts to the public, partners, and stakeholders.
  4. Actively participate in recruiting, training, and engaging district supervisors.
