Webinar: Introduction to the Montana Mesonet and Drought Assessment Tools

January 29 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
We’re excited to share this upcoming webinar on the Montana Mesonet and Drought Assessment Resources! This is a continuation of the session led by the Montana Climate Office at the 2025 Convention and all districts are welcome to attend, whether you missed last year’s Convention or attended and are interested in learning more.

Kevin Hyde with the Montana Climate Office will provide an overview of the Montana Mesonet Dashboard, a high-density network of climate monitoring stations that share atmospheric and soil moisture data to support drought assessment and forecasting. He will also highlight how these resources may benefit conservation districts and explore ways districts can apply them in their work with producers and communities.

Topic: Introduction to the Montana Mesonet and Drought Assessment Tools

Date and Time: Thursday, January 29th from 11-12:30

Overview: The Montana Climate Office (MCO) operates a network of climate monitoring stations throughout Montana. The station data and data application tools are available through the MCO website. The Montana Drought Impacts Reporter provides opportunity for the public to share drought conditions on their land and within their community. MCO data, data application tools, and maps are produced to support multiple agricultural and resource management decisions and are used in weekly drought assessments across Montana.
