Public Comment Opportunity: Recreation on State Trust Land

The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) is seeking additional public comment on proposed themes related to recreational use of state trust land.

During spring 2026, DNRC collected feedback from the public and stakeholders regarding existing administrative rules governing recreation on state trust land. The department has now identified several key themes for further consideration and is requesting additional input on these topics.

Montana conservation districts are encouraged to review the identified themes and consider providing comments on issues relevant to their districts, local communities, and natural resource interests.

The comment period is open through September 25, 2026.
