This Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) position is part of a statewide effort to serve the interests of Montana’s 58 Conservation Districts. MACD is a nonprofit organization with programs to promote local, common-sense conservation. We are looking for someone to join our team to work on our current events and activities, and help us build for the future. The position will primarily focus on the planning and coordination of (1) the Soil Health Symposium (2) statewide Annual Convention for Montana’s conservation districts and (3) Area Meetings in collaboration with districts. Further job duties will include support of statewide education and outreach programs and activities including developing and maintaining partnerships within our statewide conservation network. This position has room for both growth and creativity including assisting with development of a statewide education and training program for districts. The successful applicant is friendly, confident, detailed oriented, motivated, and creative. This is a permanent position at 40 hours per week; please note your preferred work schedule and arrangements in your application materials. The hiring team will consider a remote/hybrid position for a highly qualified candidate.
Core Responsibilities
EVENT PLANNING & COORDINATION – Support collaborative planning and delivery of MACD events, and serve as a main point of contact for venue staff, speakers, sponsors, and partners. Lead and coordination for event sponsorships, and work closely with other MACD staff on event marketing and promotion, development of print and digital materials, and the overall planning process.
- Soil Health Symposium – Annual event held each February in Billings, drawing 250–400+ attendees. MACD co-hosts the Symposium with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and plans the event through a joint steering committee. Includes administration of the Symposium scholarship program.
- Annual Convention – Three-day statewide convention for Montana’s Conservation Districts. Each year, this event is planned and hosted by MACD and a rotating group of districts in different locations across the state. Includes coordination of district staff, supervisors, and partners on planning committee, agenda development, soliciting district input for training needs, and support of MACD business during the event.
- Other MACD and Conservation District Events – Work with MACD Executive Director and staff to plan and deliver other MACD events, including annual district Area Meetings, in-person Spring Meeting of the MACD board, biennial Legislative Meet and Greet, and MACD participation in partner events.
- Volunteer & District Engagement – Work with conservation districts to shape and support MACD events, trainings, and programs to reflect district needs and priorities. Support district involvement in planning and on-the-ground execution, and work with external volunteers to support event and program delivery.
PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
- Building community – Assists the Executive Director in representing the organization at community events and in establishing positive relationships with community leaders, seeking advantageous partnerships with community businesses, vendors, and individuals.
- Event & Sponsorship promotion – Collaborate with the MACD Communications Specialist to develop a Marketing Plan for MACD to help advertise, promote, and generate sponsorship opportunities for our events.
- Acknowledging partners & sponsors – Create and maintain a donor stewardship program to recognize partners and sponsors of MACD’s work.
EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND COMMITTEE SUPPORT
- Administer National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) regional programs such as soil health week, conservation poster contest and regional meetings.
- Partner collaboration on statewide education and outreach activities for conservation districts.
- Assist directing education, outreach, and training subcommittee to achieve MACD’s outreach and education goals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, natural resources, or comparable field preferred; Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of or substitute in part for the bachelor’s degree.
- Ability and willingness to work outside of standard office hours (i.e., 8am-5pm) when needed (during events)
- Ability and willingness to travel to events and meetings; Up to 10% of the position is travel-based.
- A valid motor vehicle driver’s license, which must be maintained during employment. Use of personal vehicles may be required for travel at times, and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current state rate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with conservation districts, board, office staff, landowners, and partner agencies. Ability to establish working relationships with a wide variety of people from differing backgrounds.
- Demonstrated skill in public speaking and proficiency in the use of standard office software and social media. Open to learning new software packages and management tools.

Compensation
Wage/Salary – Salary (40hr/wk) $44,000-$50,000 depending on experience.

District Administrator for the Phillips Conservation District (PCD)
Accountable to: Chairman of the PCD Board of Supervisors

Salary: starting between $18 and $22 per hour, depending on qualifications.
General Position Description: The Phillips Conservation District Administrator will serve as an advocate for improving natural resource conditions of Phillips County utilizing available technical, financial, and educational resources, and focusing or coordinating them to meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water, and related resources.
Status: The position is three-quarter to full time, averaging 30-40 hours per week. Hours and days of work may vary according to the needs of the Phillips Conservation District and the employee, but it is preferable that work days be designated. Remote work will be allowed for qualifying events (such as power outages, impassable roads, government shutdowns, etc.). The employee will serve a six-month probationary period. Funding for this position is based in part on the availability of administrative grant funds.

Benefits: The employee is eligible to participate in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). A monthly healthcare stipend is provided, in lieu of healthcare insurance. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Planning
- Assist in long range planning process and implementation.
- Develop, implement and monitor annual operational plan for achieving annual strategic objectives.
- Prepare reports for the board to update them on the progress of achieving annual operational plan.
Financial management
- Work with the finance committee in all aspects of financial management.
- Prepare annual budget for board approval.
- Prepare financial reports for the finance committee to review before monthly meetings.
- Implement the board approved budget with available funds, while maintaining the fiscal integrity of the organization’s finances.
- Develop and follow fiscal policies as approved by the board.

- Administer the Natural Streambed and Land Preservation Act (S.B. 310) for the Conservation District by providing information and assistance with forms, receiving and reviewing applications, forwarding application to Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, scheduling team inspections, and maintaining an annual log of permit numbers and actions taken.
Maintain an organized filing system.
- Solicit and assist with landowner orders for conservation trees and shrubs, keep record of orders and payments received, places orders with Nurseries and schedule delivery, sort orders, and arrange for landowner pickup.
- Responsible for no-till drill, tree planter and fabric layer rental, scheduling,
contracting, maintenance and collection of rental fees. - Maintain a sufficient inventory of supplies for sale by the district, such as
landowner maps and planting products.
Fundraising
- Prepare and submit grant applications, perform grant administration and
reporting in accordance with grant rules and deadlines.
Organizational Visibility/Communications - Serve as primary point of contact and liaison for the Phillips CD.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all Montana Range Day needs (PCD is the 2026 & 2027 host). Assist the NRCS staff when possible.
- Assist the NRCS staff when possible.
- Provide information and distribute educational materials relevant to the district, utilizing events such as Ag Day, Phillips County Fair, etc.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders and resource groups to inform, update and/or coordinate on PCD activities such as tours, and other educational events.
- Make preparations for functions such as banquets, awards, educational
workshops, tours, etc.; provide for agenda, speakers, entertainment, location,equipment, educational materials, programs, door prizes, food and advertisement. - Coordinate with schools for education events, contests, workshops, speakers, materials, grant opportunities, distribution of conservation trees, and equipment for natural resource research.
- Provide public information through media outlets on Phillips CD activities,
upcoming meetings, and opportunities for volunteer and stakeholder participation and input. - Attend and participate in Montana Association of Conservations Districts (MACD) Conventions, Area Meetings, and other events relevant to the district.
- Network with statewide Conservation Districts and CD partners such as MACD, Milk River Watershed Association, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Ranchers Stewardship Alliance, World Wildlife Fund, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, MSU Extension Service and many others.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Customer Service

Position Summary
The Executive Director / Project Coordinator is responsible for overall leadership, planning, and administration of DRWA’s operations, projects, and programs. This position provides executive-level oversight of day-to-day administration, project planning and implementation, grant and contract management, financial oversight, and board/government relations. The Executive Director serves as the primary point of contact with federal, state, and local agencies, contractors, engineers, legal counsel, and the public.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Leadership and Board Support
- Serve as the chief administrative officer for DRWA, implementing policies established by the Board of Directors.
- Prepare agendas, reports, and supporting documentation for all Board meetings.
- Provide timely updates and recommendations to the Board on organizational, financial, and project matters.
- Maintain compliance with bylaws, state and federal regulations, and grant requirements.
Project and Construction Coordination
- Lead planning, procurement, and construction activities related to water and wastewater system projects.

Qualifications:

The Park Conservation District (PCD) seeks a District Administrator (DA) to join our team. The DA works to promote the soil and water conservation mission of the PCD and oversees daily operations of the District. The DA provides administration, management, communication, and technical support to the Board of Supervisors. The PCD is a subdivision of state government and receives revenues from real property taxes in Park County. The DA is responsible for the administration of the Montana Natural Streambed and Land Preservation Act, known as the 310 Law. A critical part of the DA’s job duties includes reviewing 310 permit applications, scheduling site inspections, and processing 310 permits. The DA is responsible for fostering existing and building new partnerships, district wide planning and implementation of conservation projects, water reservation management, and providing support for the Upper Yellowstone and Shields Valley Watershed Groups. Range Conservationist (White Sulphur Springs)

Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is hiring for one (1) full-time, term position with benefits to serve in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. These positions are part of a collaborative effort among MACD, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and local partners to further the delivery of rangeland conservation. This position will maintain and/or
expand technical assistance capacity in key rangeland focal areas to strengthen working ranchlands management. Employees will work with private landowners in Montana to increase the sustainability and economic viability of ranches while simultaneously improving the habitat for sage grouse and other rangeland-dependent wildlife. The incumbent will be an employee of MACD with daily instruction and leadership provided by the local NRCS District Conservationist. On average, over the whole year, this position is

● Provide technical assistance (range conservation and biology focus) and guidance to landowners, government agencies, non-
