April 13 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
JOIN US FOR THE 2024 MONTANA MATTERS YOUTH OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
The 2024 Montana Youth Matters Outdoor Experience will take place Saturday April 13th 2024 from 10AM-3PM at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds.
This event will have booths set up to interact with students and young adults and give them a chance to learn about conservation and go to a summer camp of their choice.
There will be 30-40 booths from organizations such as: Montana Fish and Wildlife Parks, US Forest Service, and the Wildlife Center. There they will learn about each of the organizations and participate in activities led by them. Guests will travel booth to both filling out a report card that will be signed off at each station. When they have filled out their report card for at least 12 stations they can put in for a summer camp of their choice! Camp hosts will be available to explain each of the summer camps that will be offered this year.
At the end of the day around 3PM we will be giving out multiple scholarships to summer camps via lottery drawings for kids aged 7-17 to attend the conservation related summer camps. There is no cost for kids to attend these camps! All of the camps will be located in western Montana, some of these camps include: The Theodore Roosevelt Ranch at Dupuyer, MT and The Glacier Institute located north of Columbia Falls.
Setup can be done Friday the 12th from 1PM to 5PM or Saturday from 8AM to 9:30 AM.
We started this event in the Bitterroot valley in 2013 and have been awarding these summer camps ever since. Our funds are gathered from some of the Wildlife organizations, private donations. Also we are now holding an annual banquet to raise funds to cover the camp costs.
If you have any questions reach out to the Event Coordinator Tom Powers at the Montana Conservation Elders.
