WHEREAS:  Payment in lieu of taxes (PILT) funding is disbursed by the Federal government to Montana counties that are adversely affected by large federal land holdings, such as  BLM, and;

WHEREAS:  Many Montana counties have large land holdings of non-taxable Indian reservation lands and;

WHEREAS:  The reservations are wards of the federal government,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the MACD requests the Montana Congressional Delegation to focus their attention on acquiring PILT funding to counties for US reacquired reservation lands as well.
