SUMMARY:Lake Elmo State Park Community Education Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Lake Elmo State Park Community Education Meeting\nApril 29  \n06:00PM-07:30PM  \n2300 Lake Elmo Drive  \nBillings\, MT 59105 \nMontana Fish\, Wildlife & Parks will host a Lake Elmo State Park Community Engagement meeting on Tuesday\, April 29\, at the Billings FWP office (2300 Lake Elmo Dr.) beginning at 6 p.m. \nAs a state park within the limits of Montana’s largest city\, Lake Elmo draws a variety of users. The park\, which includes a 64-acre reservoir\, trails and fishing pier\, is consistently one of the most visited state parks in Montana. Visitors can walk\, paddle and fish at this park just minutes from downtown Billings. \nLake Elmo\, however\, is lacking a long-term recreation plan. FWP staff are developing a recreation plan for the park and want to hear directly from Lake Elmo users and neighbors as the plan is developed. The meeting will be discussion-based and allow participants time to share opinions\, favorite uses and activities\, future wishes and complaints or concerns about the park. \nFor questions about the meeting or Lake Elmo State Park\, contact recreation manager Emily Tyler at 406-422 2277 or emily.tyler@mt.gov.

SUMMARY:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 3
DESCRIPTION:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 3\nSeptember 9\, 2024 \n06:30pm-07:30pm \nTo gather public input\, Montana FWP will host three virtual public workshops. These workshops will provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions and share their insights on trends and challenges with river recreation throughout the state. \nThe input gathered will be used by the River Recreation Advisory Council (RRAC). One of the key tasks of the council will be to hold discussions on managing river recreation opportunities\, to include considerations for protecting natural resources and ensuring high-quality experiences for all river users across Montana. Additionally\, FWP has received feedback about congestion on waterways and at access sites. While most agree on the importance of protecting aquatic and terrestrial resources\, opinions vary on the best methods for managing river recreation. \nAs stewards of these public resources\, FWP is committed to gathering broad public input to ensure sound management of these resources and opportunities. The recommendations by the council will help create a fair and predictable system for managing river recreation. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:FWP Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP) Deadline
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nFish\, Wildlife and Parks Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP)\nDeadline: late November\, 2023\nThe Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP) is a federal grant program for large-scale noxious weed control projects to restore wildlife habitats. Grant awards are based on project eligibility and competitive ranking criteria\, which include: enhancement of ecologically important wildlife habitat and native plant communities through control or management of noxious weeds that directly threaten habitat functions; a landscape-scale approach; broad partnerships involving multiple landowners (private and public); areas open to public hunting; and a minimum 25% non-federal cash match. Awarded grants can be structured to provide funding for up to five years. Conservation Districts are eligible to receive and administer WHIP grants\, or participate as a project partner and provide support to WHIP grantees (e.g.\, county weed districts\, local watershed groups). \nLink to learn more \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
