THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is to work with the: 1) Montana Department of Natural Resource and Conservation on an easement development education/outreach project, 2) Montana Weed Control Association, Montana Association of Counties, & other partners, as appropriate, to inform them of Conservation District issues, & 3) Montana Invasive Species Council regarding their potential review of Invasive Species Law.

17-01: Promote Agency Policies to Limit the Spread of Invasive Species

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that MACD request that all state and federal regulatory agencies have written policies in place for cleaning vehicles, equipment and watercraft that travel off-road or move to different waterbodies, to minimize chances of spreading invasive species when performing field work; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that MACD work with agencies to ensure that a periodic review of policies, practices and implementation take place, with the goal being to lead by example to better protect our natural resources from terrestrial and aquatic invasive species.

14-04: Supporting Collaboration and Communication among Agencies and Local Entities

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) contact and encourage the development of memoranda of understanding (MOU’s) among the agencies, colleges and research teams, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and conservation districts to encourage collaboration, cooperation and communication among NGO’s, state and federal agencies with local people such as producers, field office staff, district staff and supervisors, and county commissioners.
