SUMMARY:CD Water Reservation Training: Training 3
DESCRIPTION:CD Water Reservation Training\nTraining 3\nJuly 24\, 2024 \n01:00pm-03:00pm \nIn 1978\, the Board of Natural Resources and Conservation granted water reservations to 14 Conservation Districts in the Yellowstone River basin. Ten CDs were granted reservations in the upper Missouri River basin in 1992\, and eleven CDs were given reservations in the lower and Little Missouri River basins in 1994. Some CDs have reservations in more than one basin.  CDB will host a three-part virtual training series in July that will be recorded. \nTraining 3 will continue with forms and workflow processes. \n  \nMeeting materials and Zoom invites will be emailed prior to each training. There are new standardized forms that should be reviewed prior to the trainings. Reach out to your CD Specialist for more questions.

SUMMARY:Yesterday's Phosphorus\, Today's Water Quality Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Conservation Outcomes Webinar: Yesterday’s Phosphorus\, Today’s Water Quality: Conservation Insights from the USDA Legacy Phosphorus Assessment Webinar\nAugust 22\, 2024 \n12:00pm-1:00pm \nPhosphorus\, a critical fertilizer nutrient required for crop production\, can trigger unwanted changes to aquatic systems when it ends up in our water bodies. For producers and conservationists\, testing the soil and managing today’s additions of phosphorus in fertilizer and manure is just the first important step. Historical sources of phosphorus accumulate in soils\, wetlands\, and streams. As a result\, today’s water quality may reflect a phosphorus legacy that doesn’t readily respond only to SMART Nutrient Management. Mitigating legacy phosphorus requires targeted conservation in fields\, at the edges of fields\, and in watersheds. This may require new approaches to conservation. \nDr. Peter Kleinman will share recent insights from USDA’s Legacy Phosphorus Assessment Project during our free\, one-hour Conservation Outcomes Webinar. Dr. Kleinman is a Research Leader with USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Fort Collins\, Colorado. He coordinates this collaborative effort between USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and ARS to advance the science\, innovation\, and forecasting of legacy phosphorus mitigation strategies and ultimately support water quality improvements. Findings will be presented from Conservation Effects Assessment Project watersheds within the Chesapeake Bay\, Lake Champlain\, Lake Erie\, Mississippi River\, and Snake River. Producers\, conservationists\, and researchers may use the conservation insights shared during this webinar to strengthen legacy phosphorus mitigation efforts and improve water quality nationwide. \nMicrosoft Teams Information: \nRegistration is not required. Access the webinar via Microsoft Teams shortly before 2:00 p.m. eastern on August 22 by clicking “Join Webinar\,” below. Users on smartphones may need to download Microsoft Teams in advance. \nYou may also join via audio only: \nPhone Number: 202-650-0123\nPhone Conference ID: 502 499 365# \nJoin Here

SUMMARY:Virtual Agroforestry Training
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Agroforestry Training\nAugust 27\, 2024 \n11:00am-03:00pm \nIn partnership with the USDA Forest Service National Agroforestry Center\, NACD is excited to debut virtual agroforestry training sessions for conservation districts and partners! Demand for trained agroforesters is expected to increase as agroforestry-related Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities projects and Inflation Reduction Act-funded projects are implemented. An upcoming virtual regional training will introduce agroforestry and provide an educational foundation to help conservation districts and partners provide agroforestry technical assistance to landowners. \nThe virtual training will include an overview of geographically relevant agroforestry practices\, soil and water conservation and management\, funding opportunities and federal program navigation\, and planning and design considerations. It is designed for conservation districts and their partners and will include case study examples on incorporating agroforestry into existing conservation district program offerings. The training will also include navigation of state and federal programs to support land managers in accessing agroforestry financial assistance. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 1
DESCRIPTION:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 1\nSeptember 3\, 2024 \n06:30pm-07:30pm \nTo gather public input\, Montana FWP will host three virtual public workshops. These workshops will provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions and share their insights on trends and challenges with river recreation throughout the state. \nThe input gathered will be used by the River Recreation Advisory Council (RRAC). One of the key tasks of the council will be to hold discussions on managing river recreation opportunities\, to include considerations for protecting natural resources and ensuring high-quality experiences for all river users across Montana. Additionally\, FWP has received feedback about congestion on waterways and at access sites. While most agree on the importance of protecting aquatic and terrestrial resources\, opinions vary on the best methods for managing river recreation. \nAs stewards of these public resources\, FWP is committed to gathering broad public input to ensure sound management of these resources and opportunities. The recommendations by the council will help create a fair and predictable system for managing river recreation. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 3
DESCRIPTION:FWP River Recreation Public Workshop 3\nSeptember 9\, 2024 \n06:30pm-07:30pm \nTo gather public input\, Montana FWP will host three virtual public workshops.
