DESCRIPTION:Montana Spring Water School  2024\nMay 14-16 2024  \nMontana State University – Billings • Billings\, Montana \nThe Montana Water and Wastewater Operators Initiative (MW2OI) is a collaborative effort between the Montana Department of Environmental Quality\, and the Department of Civil Engineering and Academic Technology and Outreach at Montana State University. We aim to provide in-depth training on critical issues facing Montana’s operators. \nMW2OI will offer the Spring Water School on May 14-16\, 2024\, in the Student Union Building (SUB) at Montana State University – Billings. \nThe three-day Spring Water School will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday\, May 14. Sessions will run until noon on Thursday\, May 16. \nKnowledgeable speakers from around Montana and the nation will train operators on topics critical to water and wastewater system operation. The Spring 2024 Water School will provide in-depth workshops with practical operational information that can readily be implemented. \nThe Spring Water School will have three concurrent sessions covering a variety of topics\, including: \n\nVarious in-depth workshops on wastewater treatment and collection\, including presentations on small system fundamentals\, nutrient removal and wetlands systems. Operators can attend up to 20 hours of wastewater system training (2.0 wastewater CECs).\nVarious in-depth workshops on water treatment and distribution\, including presentations on emerging contaminants\, pressure regulating valves\, groundwater wells and laboratory practices. Operators can attend up to 20 hours of wastewater system training (2.0 water CECs).\nSessions focused on the rapidly changing cybersecurity requirements for water and wastewater systems (Dual CECs).\nCapacity development (technical\, financial and managerial) training (Dual CECs).\nAsset management and condition assessment with a focus on small systems (Dual CECs).\nSkills required for effective leadership at all levels (Dual CECs).\nOther topics are in development.\n\nIn addition to these workshops\, MDEQ will conduct two days of water and wastewater certification review sessions followed by administration of the certification exams. \nRegistration for the Spring 2024 Water School is $300.
