The Montana Conservationist March 17

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from The Montana Conservationist! Today is your lucky day: we’ve got an issue full of interesting natural resource news.

First off, the Yellowstone River has gotten a little elbow room, thanks to MARS and Montana Land Reliance, who have secured funding for the first ever channel migration easement in Montana.

On page 3, a UM researcher is suggesting that pine beetles may actually be helping the nation’s forests, because after all, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Next up, Montana producers are getting fired up about the International Year of the Pulses (beans, beans, the magical fruit…), and ecologists in Hawaii are choosing to embrace some invasive species in order to fight off others.

Those great stories and more, naturally. It’s The Montana Conservationist for March 17. TMC 2016-03-17
